Did you know that we have a Wish List?
Do you know why?
Maybe you have heard something about it but are not exactly sure what the purpose is, why are we doing this and why are we so excited about it??
1) What are we doing?
We are trying to collect items to have ready and available for the girls upon their arrival. For those of you that have been able to visit the Casa de Gracia site or have been involved in this process with us for a while, you have heard us talk about certain things we have been thinking and praying about having readyfor the girls from the moment they arrive. One of those things is the dream to have a little ‘store’ on site
Some of those things include;
Sheet sets in various colors
Towel sets in various colors
New undergarments in various sizes and colors
Hygiene products
Books
Items for a Welcome Kit: Bible, Journal, pens, highlighters, etc
2) Why are we doing this?
We know that the girls will arrive with nearly no belongings. What they do have will likely need replacing. Knowing this, we began planning, praying and dreaming - several years ago- about a ‘Tienda’ they can go to when the first arrive.
It is standard procedure for children arriving at an orphanage and being oriented into the system of protection to be taken to a storehouse type room and given certain items to choose from to begin their new journey institutionalized. This is a difficult and somewhat overwhelming experience due to many factors, dynamics and emotions involved.
Our heart is that this part of their experience, these first few moments and hours at Casa de Gracia will look very different.
We want this visit to the ‘Tienda’ to be filled with dignity, fun and an overwhelming sense of feeling welcomed, wanted and loved!
3) How does it work?
We created an Amazon Wish List just for Casa de Gracia with links of the things we are looking for. We wanted our Casa de Gracia community of friends and family to be able to participate in this special part of each girl’s first day with us. The Wish List is still live for anyone still wanting to participate!
The Wish List items have all been shipped to our dear parent’s home in the US. And now we are finally being able to get them brought down to Guatemala, one suitcase full at a time 🤍
And as these items begin arriving they brings us to think about...
• each person who has been so generous and so thoughtful in their donations! We thank God every day for every one of you!
• each girl that will be blessed by each item!
As we pray daily for each girl, we are filled with joy and excitement as we think of them receiving their new and chosen items!
All of these items have been purchased with love and we trust and pray that each girl will feel that love as they receive each item!
